REGIONAL / SYSTEM RULES & GUIDELINES
ELIGIBILITY
ACRA active & retired members, their spouses and dependent children.
SUBJECT
"OPEN" (photo can be any subject matter).
FORMAT
Prints only - Black & White or
Color.
COMPETITION RULES
There are 2 competitions with slightly different rules:
one is Large Print, the other is Snapshot.
Entrants may submit photos in only one of the competitions.
Photographs should not have been entered in any other ACRA photo competition.
If you have previously won in the Large Print category you may not enter
the Snapshot division.
LARGE PRINT FORMAT
Minimum visible
print size is 5" x 7" and print must
be matted.
(Any 5"x7"
photo without a mat is considered a snapshot)
All other prints (larger than
5"x7") can be matted or not, but must be mounted on a stiff
backing such as rigid cardboard or foam
core. No other materials allowed for backing.
Print or mat must not exceed 16" x 20"
NO GLASS/PLEXIGLAS
and NO FRAME.
Entries
not meeting size requirements will not be judged!
To lessen potential damage in
handling, absolutely no metal, plastic,
or adhesive hangers of any kind on back side of entry.
ENTRIES: Submit a maximum of 10 prints per person.
FEE:
$3.00 per
print.
SNAPSHOT FORMAT
Maximum print size 5" x 7". No mats, no backing.
ENTRIES: Submit a
maximum of 5 prints per person.
FEE:
$1.00 per print.
AWARDS FOR LARGE PRINT (REGIONAL):
Color: 3 Gold Awards, 3 Silver Awards and 4 Bronze Awards
B&W: 3 Gold Awards, 3 Silver Awards and 4 Bronze Awards
Best of Show (Highest scoring print).
All Regional Gold Award winners will receive a C1/J00
to attend the System Show.
AWARDS FOR LARGE PRINT (SYSTEM)::
Color: 3 Gold Awards, 3 Silver Awards and 4 Bronze Awards
B&W: 3 Gold Awards, 3 Silver Awards and 4 Bronze Awards
Best of Show (Highest scoring print).
All System Gold & Silver Award winners will receive a PY2/J00
and all System Bronze Award winners will receive a C1/J00
to attend the System Show.
AWARDS FOR SNAPSHOT (REGIONAL
& SYSTEM):
1 Gold Award, 2 Silver Awards, 2 Bronze Awards.
System & Regional Gold Award winners will receive a C1/J00
to attend the System Show.
NOTE: It
is Air Canada's policy that only active and retired employees
can receive flight passes.
HOW TO ENTER
Submit your prints to your local ACRA photo regional representative prior
to the
deadline along with your entry fee.
Identify your print on the back with your name, station, work
location, company zip,
home address & phone number and the title of the print.
No name or title should appear on the front of the print/mat".

If you have trouble acquiring an entry label, a near facsimile will suffice.
If the entrant is not the employee, please add the relationship
to the employee (i.e. spouse of).
JUDGING
Judges will select the winning entries, and their decision will be final.
All Regional award winning entries will advance to compete in the System Show.
Large Print (Regional
& System):
Color and B&W will be judged separately.
Judges will score images on a points system. The top scoring three images receive
Gold,
the next three silver, and the next four Bronze. A total of 20 Awards for colour
& black & white.
Best of Show will be selected from the 6 Gold award winners.
Snapshot (Regional & System):
Color and B&W will be judged together.
Judges will select 1 Gold Award, 2 Silver Awards, 2 Bronze Awards.
ACCEPTANCE
Participation in the competition indicates complete acceptance of the contest
rules.
Please note: Photos not complying with
the contest's specifications
will not be judged or displayed.
RETURN OF IMAGES
If you send your prints to your regional rep via Air Canada company
mail, they will be returned to
your company mail address or point of shipping for you to pick up.
If you send your prints via Canada Post or other courier company, and would like
your prints returned to you
after the show, please ensure that you include the
cost of return mailing or shipping with your entry fee,
along with the full mailing address and postal code.
RESPONSIBILITY
It is the responsibility of the entrant to ensure that their entries sent are in
suitable packing to prevent damages.
Photos are of a fragile nature, and as a courtesy to all
competitors, we request all ACRA reps to attempt to
"handle with care" and ensure the rule of "no metal clips, no glass,
no frames" is adhered to.
When handling, if possible, use white cotton gloves. When shipping, please attempt
an individual "sleeve" or
cover for each print / mat, or at least dividing sheets, to
prevent print being scratched.
Please ensure adequate, but not excess, packing for shipping."
Special care will be taken in the handling of all entries.
However, Air Canada, ACRA or any organizer of the
event will not be held responsible for loss, damage etc, while
the photographs are in their care.
